Columbia River at Brewster
This is the most well-known salmon fishery on the upper Columbia River, known as the "Brewster Pool." Here, not too far away from scenic Lake Chelan, near the beautiful little town of Brewster, both Chinook and sockeye salmon stack up at the mouth of the Okanogan River. The fish hang in the cool waters of the Columbia waiting for the warm running Okanogan River to cool off before finishing their long journey to their spawning grounds in Canada. When the bulk of the fish run makes it here the fishing can be fast and furious! Sockeye here are usually ready and willing biters and it is common to get several limits in just a couple hours! Watch out for the occasional Chinook to hammer the sockeye gear too! Chinook fishing here can be exceptional also with a mix of wild fish and hatchery keepers. This makes for an easy sockeye/Chinook combo trip all accomplished at the same time.
