Columbia River at Chelan Falls & Wells Dam
These are two very well-known spots for salmon on the upper Columbia. Hatchery Chinook salmon are raised in net pens at Chelan Falls and released as smolts. When these fish return as adults it provides an outstanding fishery at the mouth of the Chelan River. Just up river from here is Wells Dam. Below Wells Dam can be very good for both Chinook and Sockeye salmon. These spots are close together and allow for fishing at both places to make a full day if need be. We launch at Beebe Springs Park or the boat launch right below Wells Dam, both have free parking. Also, the town of Chelan and famous Lake Chelan are just “up the hill” from here and offer a multitude of fun activities after your morning of fishing.
